My name is Amin Oussar, I am studying in 8th semester “Camera” at the Fachhochschule Dortmund, and am interested in both photography / directing, as well as for the visual arts in which I use to this day as a source of inspiration. Besides that, I work for various agencies and am in the field of commercials and short films. I'm 25 years old and have been practicing karate since I'm 6.
You are studying yet. Can you tell us what you are studying at the moment and how things are going with you?
I am currently studying the subject “camera” at FH Dortmund. I am already in the 8th Semester there, and I can pre-start with my diploma film pretty soon. The film is set in a near, post-apocalyptic future, so I am currently working on that idea.
Have you completed internships?
Internship would not be the correct word, but I have worked in all sorts of departments on various film shoots (from feature film to students short film). I worked very often as a gaffer, cameraman and sometimes even as an assistant director. These experiences are crucial for aspiring filmmakers, as they flow into the preparation, and minimize many errors in advance.
What do you want to do in the future and how do you prepare yourself for your career?
I put my whole heart and soul into making films. Therefore, I often jump between the camera and directing, which leads me to my course in the direction of image-shaping cameraman. Then, the only thing I can do is to look at as many films I can and to analyze many films. A good network is not entirely inappropriate as well ...
You've been involved in various projects. Can you describe your experiences?
"Everything is good" – In most projects different people meet each other. And mostly it's a strange thing that unites them all: the stress. It may sound funny to outsiders, but people on film sets are considered good, radiate their inner peace so that this transfers to others. I was shooting on film who were spinning off a higher workload and stress-free high-quality, and on projects that took longer for less. Therefore, I have had the experience no matter what the clock says - always keep a cool head and let never a high pressure build up. Oh, and I've learned the rejections. Before, I was pretty much a "yes"-men, because I was afraid to miss something. Now I know that people who are always say yes have no time for their own projects.
Which magazines and blogs are you reading?
provideocoalition.com - Always the latest in film and cinema technology.
hypemuch.com - Nice compilation of fashion, art, design, and (short) film
ffffound.com - Who does not inspire this site?
chumpsview.tumblr.com - Always something interesting here.
sosocash.tumblr.com - my favorite photography blog
ilovehotdogs.net - Very interesting movie blog
iwdrm.tumblr.com - A not unimportant collection of Gifs animated film.
You said that you do karate for quite some time. What other passions do you have?
Although I gave up recently due to time constraints, I like to paint and draw very with watercolor and ink. And I watch a lot. Sometimes I just go to bigger city where I don't know anyone, sit me down somewhere and just watch people -- I always come here for the most creative ideas ...
What goals do you have in the next two years?
By the end of 2012 my thesis film should be filmed, cut and have been completed. After that I will only return to reality and see what I can do for a living... Currently, the Asian region is very intersteting for me, maybe this is going to be my new adventure...
