Paulo Alegria

Paulo Alegria (Paulgi), was born in 1970 in Oliveira de Azeméis. Lives and works in Viana do Castelo, northern Portugal. He graduated in Graphic Design in 1994 from EPOA, Vila Nova de Cerveira. He also frequented Architecture, Visual and Technology Education in Viana do Castelo’s Superior Education School and Civil Engineering on the Science and Technology Faculty of the University of Porto. Along his academic career he participated in numerous workshops and seminars on Photography, Drawing, Engraving, Serigraphy and Music. As an independent artist, Paulgi spent the last years in a constant exploration of photography’s potential as an artistic expression media. He was published in several magazines worldwide: “Photo”, “JPG Magazine” “Everywhere” and also in some Portuguese photo mags. His work is frequently shown in individual and collective exhibitions in his home country and abroad. He’s a member of Young Photographers United agency and FotoALT a Portuguese collective group of nonconformist photographers.
